Pandemic day 19

Pandemic Day 19

I realize it’s been a while, but now seems like a good time. I’m going to mirror some things to this blog that I’m keeping in a personal journal. It’s strange times.

School got closed for the rest of the year. Figured that was coming. I counted the days today and was surprised by it only being day 19, it feels like it’s been a month and a half. Understand that I do not like the fear of getting sick or the idea of going to work, but the rest of this is amazing. It’s the life I’ve always wanted. It’s quieter out and the air is noticeably cleaner. There are still people, maybe even more than before but things have slowed down and we’ve needed that for a while. But on the realism side there are sick people out there and my understanding is that work is worse. There are multiple confirmed cases at a large care facility in my district and the federal government is getting ready to make an urgent care in my district a public test facility. It’s creepy. I pray that we all stay well. That our extended family stays well and we can all come through this together and healthy in the end. I especially pray for my family and for myself as I go out in these places. I don’t want to get sick and bring it home. Lord watch over us.

Jury Duty

Seriously? I know this is important but seriously? All of my days off lately have been screwed up in one way or another. If not dead tired from work then getting recalled in the middle of some days off (one of the only days I had the chance to actually get some sleep) or now this. Its 12:30 in the afternoon and apparently my jury duty starts now, in the middle of the day.

Whoopie Pie

So there's these people called the Pennsylvania Dutch, I believe they are synonymous with the Amish but I'm not sure yet. Anyways I had this thing called a Whoopie Pie. I guess they are a thing out here. It was good, two chocolate chip cookies with cream in the middle. I mean, how bad could it be right?

Indian Echo Cave

So we just went to some cave in Pennsylvania. I tried to take a pic of some iron ore. It didn't look like Minecraft.

Pennsylvania

Driving through Pennsylvania today, going to some caves. I also saw my first Amish people today. We'll talk about them later.

Test? Where does the time go?

This is a test from the iPod touch. I miss the blog. It was nice and in a world of twitter and Facebook the large capacity of a blog is refreshing. But people don't have time for yet another click. If its not right there readily visible from the fed then forget it. Forget the fact that I can include real detail, with pictures and video. Forget the fact the I can format it into a way hat I feel best portrays the mood. It's interesting to think that this form of digital media feels outdated. Where does the time go?

Home?

My daughter plays at one of the local parks. she was born here (not at the park) it is home to her. But for my wife and I we are a long way from home. Or are we? I feel a long way from home but my house is just around the corner. I just don't know right now. -NC

Book Recommendation Week 1

Not sure if there will be a week 2 but lets give it a shot. I am starting with Merle the High Flying Squirrel by Bill Peet. It was one of my favorites as a kid and one I still really like. It's weird reading a book to your kid when you remember hearing it as a kid yourself. Time does fly. You can still buy this book and I will always recommend that or you can get it at the library which in the long run will probably benefit you both in many ways. I can still remember that real well too. Thanks Mom :) -NC
